The Maryland Department of Aging (MDoA) is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of programs and services for older Marylanders to promote their health and well-being. These services are provided at the local level, through Maryland’s nineteen Area Agencies on Aging. The mission of the Department of Aging is to provide leadership and advocacy for older Marylanders and their families through information, education, programs, and services, which promote and enhance choice, independence and dignity. In addition to providing leadership and advocacy for older adults, the Department of Aging is the State administering authority for the national Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) initiative by the Administration on Aging, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Veterans Administration.
